The Darcy and Robert Bingham Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Darcy and Robert Bingham Endowed Scholarship is designed to help students who are "helping themselves" by working at UCSD while attending school. The Binghams hope that the scholarship will encourage a culture of giving - and that the scholarship awardees will in turn wish to support future students.

Darcy and Robert Bingham established this scholarship because they not only believe in the importance of a good academic foundation, but also in building a strong foundation in communication skills and teamwork. As two individuals who know the importance of hard-work and dedication on and off campus, their goal is to encourage well-rounded students who can function as leaders in the private and public sectors beyond graduation.

Working-students have the difficult task of balancing the rigorous training of college life with the stress and reality of the workplace. The Binghams acknowledge the valuable experiences gained by student-workers and wish to not only reward them, but to encourage them to continue, and to recognize them for their contributions to UCSD. With the establishment of the Darcy and Robert Bingham Endowment Fund, value is now placed on what one can learn in and out of the classroom.
