The Undergraduate Scholarship Program allows us to recognize outstanding achievement, encourage academic excellence, and offer support to deserving students.
Your generosity can not only help someone achieve the quality education they deserve, but can also allow a young person to pursue his or her aspirations and dreams. The students who receive UCSD scholarships are very different from one another, yet the share something in common: they are always deeply grateful of the scholarships and the opportunities it affords them.
Private gifts create the eight types of scholarships awarded at UCSD that are described below. In each type, there is an opportunity to give to the general scholarship fund or to create a personally named scholarship endowment.
To create a personally named scholarship endowment, please contact our office (information provided at the bottom of this page). See a list of established named funds by clicking the graphic link above.

Alumni Leadership Scholarship
The recently established Alumni Leadership Scholarship Program enables alumni to endow scholarships which immediately assist juniors or seniors who find it increasingly difficult to balance demanding coursework with the ability to pay for educational expenses.
The Chancellor’s Scholarships are awarded to outstanding entering freshmen on the basis of academic achievement and other factors, such as financial need, extracurricular and community activities, previous educational environment, and first-generation college attendance.
The International Study Awards underwrite and often make possible opportunities for students to enroll in study or internship programs in foreign countries.
Friends of the Int'l Center Scholarship Recipient:
The Chancellor's Research Scholarships are specialized awards that fund project expenses for students engaged in supervised studies or research projects outside of the normal course of study.
Students with outstanding academic records and personal achievement are considered for Regents Scholarships, the University's most prestigious scholarship award. These four-year scholarships are awarded to entering freshmen on the basis of merit.
To give to this fund, please contact Kim Signoret-Paar at kspaar@ucsd.edu
Transfer Students
Students entering UCSD after two years of community college are considered for the Transfer Student Scholarship Awards if they meet the highly competitive scholarship criteria.
College and Academics Funds
Targeted scholarships are available for students in a specific UCSD college or an academic concentration. Alumni can donate to the college they attended or the field they studied in to support current students following the same path.
Honoring and Memorial Funds
Many funds have been created to honor previous UCSD faculty and staff. These scholarships are often targeted towards students that uphold the qualities that were important to the honored person.
Gifts of all levels can have a meaningful impact on our students. Please contact our office for more information:
