Why is my support important?
As the center of this great University, every alumnus/a passes through the doors of Student Affairs. Serving the non-academic needs of this diverse population is a tremendous task. Your private gifts are what allow Student Affairs the flexibility to meet the needs of this population in a variety of ways. This includes increased student programming and leadership opportunities for undergraduates, awards, scholarships, new facility development, and funding for talented students and student organizations.
What is annual giving?
Each year, Student Affairs benefits from the generosity of alumni, parents and friends who make gifts annually in support of Student Affairs, its departments, and its programs. Currently, Student Affairs actively solicits gifts through an annual direct mail and telemarketing campaign for three main areas. These are:
- Parents Annual Fund
- Scholarships (merit, need-based and custom scholarship programs)
- Athletics
There are three additional ways to support Student Affairs with an annual gift:
- Unrestricted Gifts may be made to Student Affairs, itself, through the Student Affairs Unrestricted Fund. Gifts made to this fund are "unrestricted" in that they provide funding for Student Affairs' priorities, at the discretion of the Vice Chancellor.
- Specific Department or Program Gifts may be made to designated departments or programs through Student Affairs as well. These funds are used by the department chair or program director to address the most pressing needs of the unit.
- Specialized Campaign Gifts can also be made to specialized annual fund campaigns designed by a department or program to meet its particular needs and priorities. Donors who make an annual gift to any of these types of funds have a tremendous impact on the quality of student life at UCSD.
How can I make a gift?
There are several ways to make an annual gift to Student Affairs. You can make a pledge through a telephone solicitation effort. You can return a pledge card with a gift through a direct mail solicitation effort. You can fill out the gift form below, print it and return it with a gift, or you can make your gift online by clicking Give Online.

How can I double or even triple my gift?
Hundreds of companies, large and small, local and national, match their employees' and their employees' spouse's gifts made to UCSD. This is a great way to increase dollars given to Student Affairs.
Check with your Human Resources Department to find out if your company matches gifts. If it doesn't, maybe it should! We can provide you with information to get a matching gift program established at your company. Companies often are willing to support UCSD when we can show them they have a certain number of UCSD alumni employees.

Can I support a specific department or program with an annual gift?
Absolutely! To help departments and programs meet their most pressing needs, many alumni and friends choose to designate a gift to a department or program. Many of the departments and programs within Student Affairs have a variety of needs. Click on the area(s) below that you are interested in for a description of the specialized needs in each area.
