Your gifts to UC San Diego fund excellence, achievement – and progress.  By serving our bright, talented and adventurous students, we prepare them for a lifetime of learning and leading.  There are many options for supporting our UCSD students based on what is most personally satisfying and financially advantageous for you or your organization.

• Annual Gifts
  Annual gifts are yearly contributions that can be put to use by Student Affairs immediately upon receipt from the donor.  Currently, gifts can be given through an annual direct mail and telemarketing campaign to the Parents Annual Fund, Scholarships and Athletics. Gifts can be given for a specific department or program, to a specialized annual fund campaign or on an “unrestricted” basis to allow Student Affairs to determine where the funding is needed most.
  
  
• Endowed Gifts
  An endowment is a permanent fund that earns annual interest income which in turn is used for a specified purpose.  Since the principal of the fund is never used, the endowment remains in perpetuity.  Many endowments can be named as a legacy to the donor or as a memorial for whomever the donor designates.  Undergraduate scholarship endowments may be applied annually toward a student's tuition.
  
  
• Current Gifts
  Current gifts are contributions that can be put to use by UC San Diego immediately upon receipt from the donor.  These include cash gifts, securities and property. 
  
  
• Deferred Gifts
  Deferred gifts are funds that that are committed at present, but actually received by the university to use in the future.  Types of deferred gifts range from bequests and charitable remainder annuity trusts to retirement accounts and life insurance.  Please consult your financial and legal advisors to maximize benefit for you, as the donor, and Student Affairs.
